About the Organisation
The Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival (EJBF) began in 1978. Since then, it has grown into one of Europe’s most respected jazz and blues festivals, presenting over 100 concerts each July, and creating a distinctive programme that spans the full history of jazz and blues—from early traditions to boundary-pushing contemporary work. Our programme brings together the best of Scottish talent and world-leading international artists, with new commissions, special collaborations and curated strands that broaden creative horizons.
We are a genuinely city-wide festival, presenting concerts in every ward across Edinburgh. From major venues like The Queen’s Hall to community settings across Leith, Portobello, Gorgie, Meadowbank and beyond, we ensure that world-class music is accessible to people and communities right across the city. Alongside ticketed events, large-scale free activities such as the Grassmarket Mardi Gras offer relaxed, family-friendly opportunities to experience high-quality
live music. We also produce the Edinburgh Festival Carnival, one of Scotland’s largest multicultural celebrations, bringing together around 800 performers from communities across the city to present international carnival traditions.
