The Edinburgh International Children’s Festival is an annual celebration of exceptional Scottish and international theatre and dance for young audiences, with a focus on performances that are deeply engaging, innovative and inspiring. The Festival is attended by 15,000 children, their teachers and families, as well as artists and professionals from all over the world.
About the Role
We are seeking applicants for two Disabled Production and Technical Traineeships, specifically designed to support individuals who have experienced barriers to entering or sustaining a career in theatre due to a disability or long-term health condition. Candidates must be based in Scotland.
This outcome-driven traineeships with Imaginate working in partnership with Birds of Paradise will give disabled professionals hands-on experience working either with the production Boys Don’t Dance by Marc Brew or on the Edinburgh International Children’s Festival 2026. You will gain invaluable skills in Production and Technical Theatre while being part of an inspiring, children’s rights-focused company.
The programme will provide structured, practical training across a range of creative, technical and production disciplines, working closely with experienced professionals in a supportive environment.
