About the Organisation

Edinburgh Science Foundation is an educational charity that inspires people of all ages and backgrounds around the world to experience the wonder of science and technology. Best known for Edinburgh’s annual Science Festival – the world’s first science festival and still one of the world’s largest – and for our Learning programmes that sees Generation Science tour Scotland and bring science to life in classrooms throughout the year and promotes STEM careers to teens through initiatives such as Careers Hive. An increasing worldwide element shares our content, passion and expertise more widely through an extensive portfolio of international projects.

About the Role

Edinburgh Science runs Careers Hive  each year. This is an exciting immersive careers education event designed to give students in S1-S3 a new way to think about their futures. It highlights the opportunities available to those who study STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering and maths), as well as the cross-disciplinary skills and subjects that can support and enhance STEM careers.

We are looking for a confident, and enthusiastic Coordinator to recruit and manage STEM volunteers to participate in Careers Hive. You will enjoy communicating with people at all levels and the administration of co-ordinating events, people, and processes.

You will already have experience working in a busy customer service or coordination role, with strong organisational skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office software. You will have an excellent telephone manner and enhanced communication and influencing skills to work and communicate professionally with diverse groups and individuals. You will have experience supervising or leading a team in a busy environment. You will be skilled at managing a varied workload whilst balancing competing priorities. Experience working in an arts, festival, educational, scientific or cultural setting is desirable, as is a willingness to roll up your sleeves and get stuck in!
