UK's Hottest Band Announced as Hogmanay Headliner
Organisers of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay have announced indie-rock outfit Wet Leg as 2025’s Concert in the Gardens headliners - ringing in the New Year with thousands of revellers on the Ross Bandstand in West Princes Street Gardens in Scotland’s capital.
Wet Leg’s Concert in the Gardens headline set will mark their Edinburgh’s Hogmanay debut as the BRIT and Grammy award winners take to the stage on 31 December 2025, beneath the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.
The Isle of Wight five-piece, founded by Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers, promise a night of infectious anthems, brash guitars, heavy beats and unbridled live muscle as Wet Leg play huge hits from their Number 1 albums to Edinburgh city centre. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay will close an already triumphant year for the band, which has seen Wet Leg conquer Glastonbury, announce a sell-out UK tour and secure their second Official Number 1 album in the UK with their latest release ‘Moisturizer’.
Storming onto the scene in 2022 with their self-titled debut album, which received a Mercury Prize nomination, Wet Leg went on to win two Grammy Awards and two BRIT Awards, universal rave reviews and critical acclaim. Kicking off their career with chart-topping hits like ‘Chaise Longue’ [see official video below] and ‘Wet Dream’, Wet Leg are one of Britain’s most exciting bands, bringing indie eccentricity and brazen humour back to the music scene.
Also in the line-up
Produced by Unique Assembly on behalf of the City of Edinburgh Council, the Concert in the Gardens presents Wet Leg, joined by an all-Scottish line-up, with Hamish Hawk and Lucia & The Best Boys added to the packed bill.
An Edinburgh local, Hamish Hawk’s hometown set is sure to go down a storm as he brings his indie-pop tunes, perfected over a 15-year career, to Hogmanay. Releasing his third album in 2024, the singer-songwriter has regularly been shortlisted for The Scottish Album of the Year Award.
Special guest Hamish Hawk said, “I'm properly excited to be asked to perform at this year's Hogmanay celebrations. As a local and a street party goer, I know how big a gig it is, and the size of shoes we need to fill - we're well up for the challenge! It's a privilege to be asked - 2026 is shaping up to be a good one.”
Opening proceedings on the night of Hogmanay will be Glaswegian indie rockers Lucia & The Best Boys, following their biggest UK headline tour to date. Making waves on the music scene since 2017, the trio recently supported Garbage on a European tour, as well as support slots with The Last Dinner Party later this year. Special guests Lucia & The Best Boys said, “We’ve all got great memories of Edinburgh Hogmanay so we are all buzzed to be part of the line-up this year. We have so many exciting things coming next year and this will be the perfect way to kick it off!”
The Concert in the Gardens also welcomes the return of award-winning comedian Susie McCabe to host proceedings and lead the countdown into 2026 and the world-famous Midnight Fireworks from Edinburgh Castle.
Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 4-day long celebrations
Wet Leg’s headline set at the Concert in the Gardens will be a highlight amongst Edinburgh’s Hogmanay 4-day long celebrations, with festivities kicking off on 29th December at the annual Torchlight Procession, which will see thousands of torchbearers illuminate the streets of Edinburgh in a historic river of fire. On 30 December, fans can enjoy a Scottish knees-up at the Night Afore Concert in Princes Street Gardens with Peat and Diesel and RuMac on the bill, whilst on Hogmanay itself guests will dance the night away at multiple indoor ceilidh events including the Edinburgh’s Hogmanay Ceilidh and Bairns New Year Revels at the famous Assembly Rooms.
31 December will see revellers ring in the bells at Edinburgh’s famous Street Party and Concert in the Gardens as Wet Leg take to the stage before and after a spectacular Midnight Moment from Edinburgh Castle which will see a world-renowned fireworks show light up the capital’s sky. Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations wrap up on 1 January 2026 with an eclectic programme of free and ticketed music across the city for First Footin’.
