Jupiter Rising returns for Edinburgh Art Festival 2025

The UK's largest annual visual arts festival and Scotland's premier contemporary sculpture park have joined forces again to present Jupiter Rising.

For one day only - Saturday 16 August, 6pm to midnight - Edinburgh Art Festival and Jupiter Artland will present this artist-driven event, packed with experimental music, poetry, and performance - plus the return of the infamous late night stage, showcasing progressive club nights with the best of Scottish and international DJs.

Sinnce its first outing in 2022, Jupiter Rising has carved out a distinctive position in Scotland’s busy summer cultural calendar, bringing together experimental art and underrepresented voices in a festival setting that fuses live music, visual art, poetry, and club culture.

This year opens with a conversation between artist Jonathan Baldock and writer and historian Sacha Coward. Baldock’s new commission, WYRD, takes inspiration from an Old Norse word meaning both strange or different and associated with destiny, fate, and transformation.

Headlining the live music programme will be TAAHLIAH, the Glasgow-based artist, musician and producer who returns with a solo set drawn from her 2024 debut album, Gramarye. Her music, marked by a blend of sharp electronic textures and confessional pop, has been described as exploring themes of vulnerability and transformation, with her latest work explicitly connecting to the folkloric and magical — the Scots word “gramarye,” which gives the album its title, is related to enchantment and necromancy.

The event also includes poetry and spoken work curated by Glasgow artist-led publishing project and reading series Waterwings Press, while all those attending get the opportunity to go exploring in Jupiter Artland after dark. Further announcements on the line-up, including additional artists’ performances and details of the late-night stage, are expected in the coming weeks.

Edinburgh Arts Festival runs from 7 to 24 August and you can find further information about the festuval HERE.
