Big four for Jazz Festival's big four-O
With Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival heading for its 40th anniversary this July, four major acts have been announced in advance of this year's full programme launch.
The Festival (13-22 July 2018) will be bringing the streets and venues of Edinburgh to joyful life once again this summer, with music of all kinds on offer across the huge and diverse programme.
Details of the full lineup are expected to emerge in the next few weeks, but already announced and on sale now are:
- Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra on Friday 13 July
- Bratislava Hot Serenaders on Wednesday 18 July
- Davina & The Vagabonds on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 July
- The Average White Band on Saturday 21 July
Jools Holland Rhythm & Blues Orchestra
Making his return to Edinburgh's Festival Theatre on Friday 13 July, legendary musician and TV presenter Jools Holland is all set to present another brilliant boogie-woogie party.
Jools will be joined by Soft Cell singer Marc Almond as well as fan favourites Ruby Turner, Louise Marshall and Rosie Mae.
Bratislava Hot Serenaders
Take a magnificent 21 piece band in authentic period dress, add classic hot jazz and dance music from the swinging twenties and thirties, and bring them all to the Festival Theatre (Wednesday 18 July 2018) and you've got the recipe for a fantastic night of music.
The Serenaders are always a huge hit in Edinburgh, and this is a chance to catch them in front of a big crowd in a truly beautiful setting.
Davina & The Vagabonds
After massively successful smaller-venue runs in previous years, Davina Sowers and her incredible band of musicians take to the big stage of the Festival Theatre on Thursday 19 and Friday 20 July 2018 for two nights of high energy, foot-stomping fun.
Davina and her Vagabonds deliver intensity, passion and sheer swagger in abundance, with their classic New Orleans sound. Not to be missed.
The Average White Band
Legends of soul and funk, the Average White Band were a massive hit when they last played at the Jazz Festival in 2016, and tickets will be seriously in demand this summer as they return to the Festival Theatre on Saturday 21 July.
The superb musicianship behind hits like Pick Up The Pieces, Cut The Cake, and Person To Person will be on show once again as founder members Alan Gorrie and Onnie McIntyre
The Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival runs from 13 - 22 July 2018. The full Festival programme will be announced in the coming weeks - find out more about what's happening at edinburghjazzfestival.com
