First show announced for 2018's International Festival
Edinburgh International Festival has made its first programming announcement for August 2018, a radical restaging of David Greig and Gordon McIntyre’s massively successful comedy, Midsummer.
The National Theatre of Scotland's new production will transform the acclaimed show, which has toured nationally and internationally, into a newly immersive experience for audiences.
Midsummer was originally performed at Edinburgh's Traverse Theatre in 2008, and tells the story of Bob and Helena's adventures across a bizarre and hilarious weekend of drinking, loving and singing.
The show will take up residence at the International Festival's home venue, the Hub, and will run for the duration of the Festival. Audiences will find themselves in the centre of "a nightly musical rom-com rollercoaster" filled with music and infectious energy.
More details about Midsummer will be revealed on Wednesday 14 March 2018, as part of the full launch of the Edinburgh International Festival programme.
Edinburgh International Festival runs from 3-27 August 2018. Tickets will go on sale to Festival Friends on Saturday 17 March, and on general sale from Saturday 24 March.
