Storytelling Festival set to spook audiences
The Scottish International Storytelling Festival is perfectly timed to coincide with that time of year when spooky stories and terrifying tales are the order of the day... or night. So whether you want a haunted Hallowe'en, a scary Samhuinn or both, check out what's in store for the final five days of the Festival!
A Cabaret of Pestilence - 27-29 October 2017 (SOLD OUT)
A multi-disciplinary event inspired by medieval monastic hospital, Soutra, and involving a walking tour, tales of witches, disease and more! (Ages 12+)
Festival Guid Crack - When Worlds Collide - 27 October 2017
Edinburgh's acclaimed storytelling club reconvenes to share stories of the worlds of the living and the dead, and of how the boundaries begin to blur at this time of year. (Adults)
Spooky Lauriston - 28-29 October 2017 (SOLD OUT)
This three-hour special event gives families the chance to show off their costumes and enjoy some spooky shenanigans at Lauriston Castle to the north west of the City. (All ages)
Guisers Galore - 28 October 2017
Wear your own costume and learn some of the tricks of the trade when it comes to guising (aka trick-or-treating), then take part in a parade through Edinburgh's Old Town. (Not suitable for under 5s)
Family Samhuinn - 29 October 2017
Youngsters can celebrate the Celtic tradition of Samhuinn at this fun afternoon of games, songs and stories. (Ages 3-12)
The Devil and the Clutch of Fools - 31 October 2017
Subtitled A Spontaneous Marathon of Halloween Storytelling, this epic event takes place across the whole day of Hallowe'en. (10am-12pm, Children up to 10 years; 12-2pm, Young Adults 11-16 years; 2pm until late, Adults)
Samhuinn Fire Festival - 31 October 2017
Celebrate the Celtic New Year with this fantastic procession of fiery torches, acrobatics and amazing costumes in Edinburgh's Old Town. (Adults and children 10+)
