Revealed - the winner of our August 2017 competition!
After a huge number of entries, we can finally reveal the winner of our competition to win a trip to Edinburgh's August 2017 festivals - with a little help from Edinburgh International Science Festival.
When we launched our competition, celebrating the 70th anniversary of Edinburgh as the world's leading festival city, we knew it would be popular - but we didn't expect to receive over 23,000 entries!
So, faced with a very large spreadsheet full of names, we enlisted the assistance of Simon Gage, Director of the Science Festival - a man who knows his way around big numbers - to help choose our winner.
Simon met us at his Festival's fab Moments in Time exhibition at the foot of the Mound, and, drawing from 5 pots, put together a 5 digit number for us to select one name from the thousands who took part.
That number was 01023, and the winner is... Gillian Blacklock of London!
Gillian wins travel to Edinburgh in August, a 3-night stay in a luxury Old Town Chambers apartment, and tickets to events at each of our August Festivals.
Congratulations Gillian and we can't wait to welcome you this summer. Thanks so much to everyone who took part - we wish all of you could have won!
If you still want to come to Edinburgh for our amazing, year-round selection of world-class festivals, links to each of them are below - we hope you'll join us here sometime in 2017 as we celebrate 70 years of Edinburgh's Festivals.

Thank you also to Simon Gage for making the draw for us - you can hear from Simon as he discusses Edinburgh's Festivals in our video interview. And the Edinburgh International Science Festival runs until Sunday 16 April, so be sure to find out more on our Science Festival page.
