Storytelling Festival brochure cover celebrates Dario Fo

The brochure for the 2016 Scottish International Storytelling Festival is now available, featuring a cover image gifted by celebrated playwright, actor, director, singer and artist, Dario Fo.

As part of celebrations for his 90th birthday, the UK's first showcase of Fo's art takes place in Edinburgh in October, and is one of the Storytelling Festival's accompanying exhibitions.

The Festival takes place from 21-31 October, and organisers were delighted when Fo agreed to allow his work to appear on the front cover of their festival brochure, as Lindsay Corr, Marketing and Communications Manager explains:

We love utilising illustration for our programmes that visually encapsulates our overriding theme for the Festival each year... Dario Fo’s artwork is a perfect fit for this year’s Festival of Dreams theme. The artwork is entitled Il Sogno which translates to The Dream – so immediately we were excited!

Lindsay continued:

The bold colours amidst a starry sky, as a gathering of bodies in motion look upwards and outwards, reflect the need for us all to be continually inspired. They also highlight how autumn is the perfect time for gathering together to share stories, which always touch on dreams of one kind or the other.

Copies of the brochure, which also features the illustrations of Marie-Alice Harel (below), are now available at venues across Edinburgh, including the National Museum of Scotand, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, the National Library of Scotland and many more.
