On Wednesday 8 June, Edinburgh Festival Fringe will launch its latest and greatest August programme, full to the brim with fantastic shows and events. Whether you're after comedy, theatre, cabaret, dance, circus skills, live music, or just about anything else, it's definitely a date for any festivalgoer's diary.

The Fringe (5-29 August 2016) is the biggest arts festival anywhere in the world, and last year saw more than 50,000 performances to approximately 2.3 million people! Understandably then, there's growing excitement about the forthcoming launch of the 2016 programme.

Early birds needn't wait the four weeks however, since the Fringe already has almost 1000 shows on sale (click here for more info and ticketing/programme links).

It's part of their staged release of tickets, which began in February, and has enabled hardcore Fringe fans to get a little taste of their fix in advance. The next batch of tickets will be made available on Thursday 12 May, with a final advance release a fortnight later on 26 May.

And then to Wednesday 8 June, when the Fringe's customary collossal, gargantuan, really, really big brochure is launched in all its glory, appearing in stands across the country and on cafe tables everywhere. If you don't want to go looking for one though, you can also arrange to have a copy sent direct to your door.

However you get your brochure, you can expect another dizzying array of entertainment, experimentation and eccentricity to choose from. Marker pens at the ready!

Edinburgh Festival Fringe runs from 5-29 August 2016. Tickets for selected events are on sale already, with the full programme launched on Wednesday 8 June. Find out more about the Festival, including links to programme and ticketing details.
