Looking Ahead to August 2015!

August is over, and what a month it has been!

Thousands of performances, events, exhibitions and talks throughout Edinburgh attracted hundreds of thousands of audience members to the festival city. From the Esplanade of the Castle to the parks of Leith, our six August festivals filled the city with their unique energy, creating the unparalleled experiences that make Edinburgh a world famous festival city.

If you missed this year's festival, or you're just bursting to get back in 2015, don't worry - it's never too early to start planning!

While most festival programmes won't be released until spring next year, tickets for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo go on sale on the 1st of December. This year the Tattoo sold out for the 16th year in a row, so get those 2015 tickets early to make sure you get the best seats.

When it comes to the other August festivals, the breadth of their programmes makes booking a trip before you buy tickets no risk at all - there's sure to be more things you want to go to than you have time to attend. Booking far in advance has other benefits: travel and accommodation is usually much cheaper, and once the programmes get released you'll have nothing to worry about except which shows, events and exhibitions to fill your days with.

2015 Dates for the August festivals:
Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo: 7 - 29 August 2015
Edinburgh International Festival: 7 - 31 August 2015
Edinburgh Festival Fringe: 7 - 31 August 2015
Edinburgh International Book Festival: 15 - 31 August 2015
Edinburgh Mela: 28 - 30 August 2015

If you can't wait until next August, never fear, Edinburgh has festivals on throughout the year to entertain and delight - next up are the Scottish International Storytelling Festival and Hogmanay, Edinburgh's world-famous New Year party.
