Edinburgh to become the 'Ideas Factory'
Edinburgh's love affair with festivals continues into the new year, with the next event on the horizon being April's Edinburgh International Science Festival 2015 - which this year will turn the city into an 'Ideas Factory'.
Full details of this year's Science Festival will be announced in February, but central themes will include the festival's role as a hub for ideas, information, innovation and inspiration. Transforming the Scottish capital's halls, galleries, theatres and gardens into an 'Ideas Factory', the festival will unite thinkers from across a variety of fields in a bid to forge new and unexpected collaborations.
Contemporary pioneers in science, technology, mathematics, medicine, philosophy and art will come together to develop new ideas, and engage audiences with fun and fascinating discussions and demonstrations, with key strands including light, the human mind, energy, environment, food and drink, and big data.
Inspired by Scotland's tradition of inventions and innovation (think bicycles, penicillin, television, radar, anaesthesia, logarithms...) the 2015 Science Festival will deliver a broad and exciting programme of discussions, workshops, performances and exhibitions to foster dialogues about the future of culture, Scotland, the Earth and beyond.
