Since 1947, the Edinburgh International Festival has existed to promote the exchange of ideas and deepen understanding between cultures through an unparalleled global celebration of exceptional performing arts. We are the original festival and bring some of the most exciting and creative artists working today to audiences from around the world.

Each August, we present the finest and most original performers and ensembles from the worlds of opera, music, dance and theatre over three weeks in venues across the city of Edinburgh. Throughout the rest of the year, we devise bespoke experiences to inspire our audiences and communities, to unlock their creativity and cultural curiosity. Our vision is simple: to provide the deepest experience of the highest quality art for the broadest possible audience.

About the Role

The Edinburgh International Festival is looking for an experienced, passionate and dedicated Head of Staging to join the team. We are looking for someone to help us deliver this unparalleled celebration of the performing arts, which brings some of the most exciting and creative artists working today to audiences from around the world.

The role of Head of Staging is an integral role to the delivery of the Edinburgh International Festival. The person for the role must be an excellent communicator and be able negotiate directly with visiting companies, both nationally and internationally. They will have to be able to manage, delegate and supervise a team, which will vary depending on the demand of that year’s festival programme.

The job demands the utmost attention to detail during preparation and planning stages, which will be relied upon in the pressured and concentrated three-week festival period. They should demonstrate excellent knowledge of their field, being able to offer solutions with reference to up to date practices and ensuring Edinburgh International Festival deliver at the highest level.
