The idea at the heart of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe is simple: anyone with a desire to perform and a venue willing to host them is welcome. No individual or committee determines who can or cannot perform at the Fringe.   
It all began in 1947 with eight companies – six of them from Scotland – taking a risk, turning up uninvited and performing on the ‘fringe’ of the inaugural Edinburgh International Festival. Over 70 years later, the Fringe has grown to become the greatest platform for creative freedom in the world, second only to the Olympics in terms of global ticketed events. In 2022 there are 3336 shows taking place in 278 venues across Edinburgh.  
The Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society is the charity that was established by participants to provide support services, uphold the values, and be the convening body for the Fringe. We exist to support, advise and encourage everyone who wants to participate in the Fringe, provide information and assistance to audiences, and celebrate the Fringe and what it stands for all over the world.    

Purpose of the role 

As a service organisation to a wide range of users, is central to our work and how we engage with artists, audiences, industry, media, members and the public. We have great tools in place and are looking to continue to develop these to ensure they are future proof and fully accessible to all. The Website and App Manager is responsible for the success of these tools, both in their technology development and in how they support problem solving across the organisation. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Executive you will be primarily responsible for the official Fringe website and Fringe App, managing and working closely with our agency partners and colleagues to maintain and develop our digital footprint and systems.  
Working closely with the Marketing Team and the Artist Services Team, you will ensure the information and services we provide to a range of stakeholders through our website and app are the best they can be. You will be focussed on working with partners and suppliers to achieve desired outcomes, committed to supporting high quality experiences online for all customers and users, and interested in data management and information mapping to support the objectives of the charity.   
You will work closely with the Marketing Team and the Digital Marketing Manager to ensure our platforms and tools are fit for purpose to enable them to fully realise the potential of our digital assets in our marketing and comms delivery.
